Junior Food Analyst Exam  – FAQ

What is Junior Food Analyst?

This is a wonderful initiative started by FSSAI to bridge the gap of demand and supply of trained and qualified Food Analyst.

Today, any one applying for Food Analyst position, needs to write theory exam, give practical exam and apart from this needs to have 3 yrs of experience in Food Analysis in Govt recognized labs. But we don’t have sufficient Govt recognized labs to give this experience.

To bridge this gap, FSSAI came out with an Unique program – JFA or they also called Fellow In Food Analysis [FIFA]

How this program operate?

Through national level exam, FSSAI identifies best talents from all over the country and call them for counselling. During this counselling representatives from food laboratories and food industries also come. Fellows and Recruiter interact with each other and each of them give their preferences for laboratories or candidates.

These Fellows are hired as interns by laboratories (Govt or Industry) for 3 years with a stipend (min decided by FSSAI and max by recruiter). After completion of 3 years, the Fellows becomes eligible for Food Analyst position and interestingly they need to write theory exam again and will be given chance to directly sit for practical exa

Will this exam ensure permanent Govt Job?

No, it is not exam for Govt job. This exam increases the chances and makes you eligible for Govt job in food analysis if such position comes in future.

Will this exam ensure job in lab where internship is offered?

No, it is mandatory. But, based on individual performance and requirement in that lab, the candidate may get job.
